Are dumb girls what guys want?

I was at a bar last week that was full of frat and sorority people. all they cared about is when their next drink was coming and how they were going to "sneak in" because the line was so long. I myself am an educated engineering student on campus and want to meet some girls but places where singles are, like these bars, are filled with trashy girls that have nothing interesting to talk about. I struck up a conversation with two girls but it only lasted a few minutes before i found them uninteresting. I tried talking about an educated topic and they just said 'its friday, why are you talking about school stuff?' Is this really what guys like? because Im a guy and i DONT like this.
