Machusetts ual consent laws: How exactly does it work?

I'm 17 and I've been talking to a guy who is 23 for over a year. I really like him and he likes me. We don't plan on having , but I mean, him being a 23 year old dating a 17 year old could still get him in some sort of trouble, and I care about him and don't want that to happen. I've already read some stuff on the matter of consent ages in Machusetts, and i've read that the age of consent is 16 to have with someone over 21, but I still have to question the reliability of the source. Most people tell me the age of consent is 16, but if the other person is over a certain age, does it change? I've also read something in the MA laws about "of chaste life" which, I'm not so proud to say, I do not fall under that catagory due to a lapse in judgement. So, in short, I am 17, he is 23, would it be legal if we DID have ?
